Pulsar Points guide

Pulsar Points explained

Pulsar Points are what Pulsar gives back for using it. Card transactions earn them. So do partner integrations, quests, and campaigns running in the app. Most things you do in Pulsar earn something, which is the point of it.

You spend points to refund a transaction you have already made. The money comes back in USDC.

How you earn

Card transactions
Earn points when an eligible card transaction completes. Your rate depends on your plan. On Pro, it also depends on how much you have already spent that month.
Partner integrations
Earn points for using eligible partner services connected to Pulsar.
Quests
Earn points for completing eligible actions in the app.
Campaigns
Earn points from eligible promotions running at the time.

What you earn on card transactions

On $700 of eligible card transactions in a month:

On Pro, the 2% rate covers your first $1,000 of eligible card transactions each month. Above that, the rate is 0.5%. A transaction that crosses the line splits between the two rates.

Points land once a transaction completes. A pending card payment has not earned yet, and a declined or cancelled transaction never will.

Double points

Some merchants earn double points. Spend $20 there on Pro and you earn 80 points instead of 40. Your bill is still $20.

Doubled points count toward your monthly limits like any other points, so you reach the cap on less spending. The tradeoff is the same ceiling, reached faster.

The monthly cap

Pro rewards are capped at $58.75 per monthly period. Once you reach the cap, further card transactions that period do not earn points.

Everything resets at the start of the next period, including your tier, so your rate goes back to 2% on the first $1,000.

Claiming a discount

Points come back as a refund on a transaction you have already made. Pick the transaction, choose how much of it to refund, and the money arrives in USDC.

There are four options. The number of points each dollar costs depends on which one you pick.

Points needed to refund each dollar of a transaction
You refundPoints per $1
25% of the transaction100
50%100
75%112
100%125

A quarter or a half costs 100 points per dollar. Above that, the rate rises to 112 points per dollar at 75%, and 125 points per dollar for a full refund.

Refunding a $20 transaction in full costs 2,500 points. Refunding half of it costs 1,000 points. Each transaction can be claimed once.

Which transactions you can claim against

The transaction has to be:

  • Eligible for points in the first place
  • No more than 30 days old
  • Between $0.50 and $200
  • Not refunded and not already claimed

See the full eligibility rules and merchant categories on the eligible transactions page.

Refunds

Rewards follow the transaction. Refund one and the points it earned come off your balance. If you had already claimed a discount on that transaction, both the reward and the discount reverse.

Transactions in another currency

Pay in a currency other than your account currency and the reward is worked out at the settlement rate stored for that transaction, not the rate on the day you look at it.
